We were frozen when we woke up
today and decided that the only way to warm up was to get in the car and go
somewhere. We chose the Grand Canyon of
Yellowstone and the Bear Area. We
stopped at some more Geysers on the way, but Katie said they were icky and
smelled like eggies and cried when the steam got her so we left. It was snowing by this point.
We stopped at Artist’s Point for a
very interesting ranger talk about the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone
in 1995 and had some epic views.
By this
point the sleet/ snow was coming down pretty hard so we drove back to our
campsite to close up the tent that we had left open to dry out a bit from the
condensation. We went back on our
journey and had epic views or canyons and waterfalls.
We continued up the road looking for bears
but found none. IT was a lot of driving for a non-driving
day.
We ended the day with a kids ranger
talk about wolves again. Katie really
likes the rangers. We also told her that
they check on her every night to make sure she is asleep. It is supposed to get down to 28 tonight!
