Poor Sick Baby

It is 11:30 am here and Katie is still sleeping.  Poor baby had a fever last night, runny nose, and a cough.  We put her to bed at like 9 last night so it has been 14 1/2 hours of sleep so far.  I don't remember her ever sleeping this long.  Even before she went to bed she slept in my arms for a few hours.  She would wiggle and ask, "why?" a few times- surely an Uncle Matt influence.  I don't know how much longer she can sleep for :(

Should Katie Just Get a Yoga Mat?

Dan and I have been busy working on Katie's new big girl room for a few weeks now.  We've textured walls, painted a ton, and are now installing a new fan with a cool switch and remote.  Soon we will be to the bed buying stage.  We have looked at kid beds and they are expensive and some still cheaply made.  Lately Katie has been sleeping under her bed.... so should I just get her a soft blanket and call it good?

Planning Our Inland Western United States Trip

Dan has been wanting to go on a road trip since our last trip around California about 6 years ago.  We wanted to go up to Cheyenne and there is plenty of stuff on the way to see.  This is the trip in a nutshell.

Our first stop will be somewhere near Las Vegas for a quick over nighter on our way to Zion National Park for two nights.

Zion National Park, Utah for 2 nights

Salt Lake City, Utah for 1 night

Mesa Falls, Idaho for 1 night

Yellowstone National Park for 3 nights
Bighorn National Park, Wyoming for 1 night

A quick stop at Devil's Peak
Mt Rushmore, South Dakota for 2 nights
Cheyenne, Wyoming for 3 nights
Arches National Park, Utah for 2 nights

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona for 2 nights

Hopefully one more stop before we head back to Escondido.  Oh and I want to stop at 4 corners I guess before the Grand Canyon.  Too many things to see.  I guess we'll figure out how camping while pregnant works.

Katie and the Credit Cards

Katie has always been happy playing with our wallets.  Last night she invented a cute game of scanning Dan's credit cards on her etch-a-sketch and then signing for her purchases.  After that game she tried sliding the card on other surfaces and eventually made it over to the fireplace.  Since this is a common occurrence we thought nothing of it until she said she needed another card and proceeded to shove it through our fireplace vent.  We stopped her halfway through the act and managed to pull the card out with tweezers. The other one is lost forever.

Dan called the credit card company requesting another card and explained what happened to our first car.  Then asked the lady if he could add his 2 year old as an authorized user to our account!!  The same two year old who hands Mommy's card to the cashier at Target and who stuffs them in the fireplace!  He thinks that it will benefit her to have 16 years of credit history by the time she reaches 18.

Are we really in a place where 2 year olds need to be establishing credit history?

Easter Weekend

I love Spring time in San Diego.  So warm and beautiful.  We had an Easter egg hunt at our house on Saturday for the little ones.  They were soooo excited that we had to have someone hold the door locked so they wouldn't escape.

The kids are so ready to find some eggs

The hunt is on
