Katie and the Credit Cards

Katie has always been happy playing with our wallets.  Last night she invented a cute game of scanning Dan's credit cards on her etch-a-sketch and then signing for her purchases.  After that game she tried sliding the card on other surfaces and eventually made it over to the fireplace.  Since this is a common occurrence we thought nothing of it until she said she needed another card and proceeded to shove it through our fireplace vent.  We stopped her halfway through the act and managed to pull the card out with tweezers. The other one is lost forever.

Dan called the credit card company requesting another card and explained what happened to our first car.  Then asked the lady if he could add his 2 year old as an authorized user to our account!!  The same two year old who hands Mommy's card to the cashier at Target and who stuffs them in the fireplace!  He thinks that it will benefit her to have 16 years of credit history by the time she reaches 18.

Are we really in a place where 2 year olds need to be establishing credit history?
