Journey to Yellowstone

We left Idaho and drove to Yellowstone through Montana.

It was a very beautiful and short drive to the park.  As soon as we entered the park we saw a bison.  Some people call them buffalo since they look like buffalo from other places, but I guess they are bison.  Then we saw four bison and stopped again.  Then we saw 100 bison in a meadow playing and stopped again.  There were babies playing around.  A Mommy and Daddy crossed a river and the baby was too scared to cross for a while.

We didn’t stop for bison after that, only slowed down.  I don’t need any bison dents in my car! We took the scenic route to our campsite stopping at everything on the map.  We stopped by a waterfall and then the geysers started.  There were a lot of geysers.  We even met some geyser gazers who sit around all day and wait for certain ones to go off.

We stopped at the Midway Geyser Basin and there was so much steam that we couldn’t see for a while- ick!  Katie decided she didn’t like them anymore.

We did have to stop at Old Faithful on the way as well and were lucky enough to arrive 10 minutes before it went off.

On the way to our campsite we saw a lot of snow on the side of the road.  Maybe it should have been an indicator to book a room.  We set up our tent just before the rain began.  It rained, snowed, and sleeted all night long.

We had a lot of condensation on the inside of our tent and it was miserably cold the next morning.
